Traditional Counseling and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy?
How will this help me?
Like any therapeutic process you will be encouraged to explore and gain insight into yourself -your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Insight and knowledge in yourself is one of the greatest gifts you can give you. To know you and how you relate to others and the world at home, work, with friends only lends to creating a better experience in life. Unlike other therapeutic process, EAP has the added benefit of utilizing horses in the therapeutic process. Utilizing the horses provides you with immediate feedback in the therapeutic process as they react to you, your emotions, and your behavior. We often refer to this process as experiencing therapy "live", in which we may often witness moments in which people gain knowledge about themselves, and undergo emotionally profound, moving, and life changing occurrences.
How long does this take?
Counseling is not a process that is to last forever. However, we understand that each individual is different and change occurs differently for everyone. At Painted Horses, LLC we have discovered that often times you are the best judge in knowing when you are finished or done with a therapeutic process. Essentially, the process will take as long as you need it to. EAGALA Model Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is designed as a short-term therapy, and there are times in which we integrate EAP and Traditional Counseling sessions to accommodate each individual’s needs.
Do you ride in counseling?
All of the EAP sessions are “on the ground” activities, no riding is involved, this in not therapeutic riding.
Do I need horse experience when in EAP counseling?
No horse experience is necessary.
What is the cost for counseling sessions?
Traditional Counseling sessions cost $90.00 an hour
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy cost $150.00 an hour
Painted Horses LLC counseling services are often covered by insurance, as we accept most private insurances and MaineCare.
